History

The Brisbane Eisteddfod Junior Choir was founded in 1947 by Alan H. Moxey, MBE. The choir travelled extensively around Australia and also to New Zealand. It won the Royal South Street Competition, held in Ballarat, four times and sang in the farewell ceremony for President Johnson in Brisbane in 1966. Conductors who worked with the choir during this period were Alan Moxey and John Villaume. The repertoire included religious music, operettas, musicals. The contralto Marian Anderson became an honorary member on her tour of Australia in 1962.
