History

Arthur William Forster Bligh was born in 1905 at Sydney. He was articled to Toowoomba architect William Hodgen (1866-1943) in 1922 until he established his own practice in 1926 in Toowoomba. After moving to Brisbane he established an architectural practice. Colin W. Jessup joined this practice. During the Second World War he worked for the USA Service Drawing Office and returned to private practice in 1944. In 1957 Bligh and Jessup were joined by Athol Bretnall and Ronald Voller (1915-2006). The practice at that time was renamed Bligh Jessup Bretnall and Partners. Graham Bligh (his son) became a partner in the practice in 1965. Arthur Bligh retired in 1974.
