History
Helena Binns was an Australian artist and photographer. She was born Margaret Duce in 1941 in Victoria, Australia. At the age of 13, she joined the Melbourne Science Fiction Fan Club and began to contribute to the club’s magazine, Etherline. She attended her first science fiction convention in 1958 in Melbourne. In 1973 she received her first camera and began capturing conventions she attended. Binns was the official photographer for ‘Aussiecon’, the 33rd World Science Fiction Convention, and the first to held in Australia. In 2009, Helena was made an honorary life member for the Melbourne Science Fiction Club. She passed away in 2023 in Victoria, Australia.
