History
Gregory Marcus Berkman graduated from The University of Queensland with a Bachelor in Architecture in 1961. He gained a Commonwealth scholarship and undertook his Master Of Architecture from The University of Queensland, completing it in 1964. He was employed by the Commonwealth Works Department in Brisbane and in 1965 was transferred to Head Office in Melbourne. From 1967 to 1970 he and his wife, Gillian, were overseas where he worked with various architectural firms. Upon returning to Australia, Berkman worked for architect Robin Gibson on projects including Mayne Hall, at The University of Queensland. He joined The University of Queensland as a senior architect in 1973, became the University Architect Planner in 1978, University Building Surveyor in 1987 and retired November 1998.
