History

Johann Sebastian Bach was a German composer, KapelMeister, and organist. He composed an extraordinary amount of instrumental and choral pieces for his employers, who were, successively, the Duke of Saxe-Weimar, the Prince of Anhalt-Cöthen, and St Thomas's, Leipzig. He is known as one of the definitive composers of the Baroque period, and his most famous works include cantatas, oratorios, concertos, and suites.
