History

The Australian Peace Committee (Brisbane) was a local branch of the Australian Peace Committee for Détente, Disarmament and Development (APC), a national organisation affiliated to the World Peace Council. The APC's goals included the prohibition of all weapons of mass destruction, an end to the arms race and the peaceful co-existence of states. The Brisbane committee played a significant role in the local peace movement, especially in the 1980s and early 1990s.
