History
William Amiet was a Queensland barrister and writer. Born and educated in Victoria, he came to Queensland in 1912, served in World War 1 and from 1920 lived in Mackay where he practiced law and was a weekly contributor to the Mackay Daily Mercury. He married Agnes May Hurley (1901-1982) and they had three daughters, Berenice (Amiet) O'Keefe (1925-1951), Cecile Amiet (1928-2022, who was a nun at the Rose Bay Convent) and Lynette Amiet (born 1930, teacher in Queensland as at 1956, death date unknown).
