Matthew Clifford (Cliff) Williamson was born in Toowoomba in 1900, son of builder Matt Williamson. He worked for Brisbane architect RF Hall while studying at the Central Technical College. He returned to Toowoomba and started his own practice in the 1930s, where he designed many buildings, residences and homesteads throughout the Darling Downs area. He closed the practice in 1976 and moved to Brisbane and later the Gold Coast.

Geoffrey Carmichael Wills was a lifetime member of the Australian Seamen's Union and a founding member of the Early Music Society, the Communist Arts Group and the Australian Association of Instrument Makers in Queensland.

Nancy Wills (1920-2005, also known as Nance Macmillan, which may have been her birth name) was an author and playwright. She married seaman and instrument maker Geoff Wills (1919 -2000) on 1 May 1948. They were members of the Communist Arts Group. Wills became a friend of Afro-American singer and activist Paul Robeson and in 1987 wrote a play about his life.
