Eunice Catherine Gilmour was born on 11 November 1921 to James Stephen Gilmour and Elizabeth Stuart Fryer. She was the eldest child and had a sister Lex and a brother John. The family lived on Mount Kelman Station. She was the eldest cousin in the Fryer Family and spent time caring for her younger cousins, including the children of Richard Alexander James Fryer and Walter Ponsonby Fryer . She obtained a Bachelor of Arts Degree as an external student at the University of Queensland in 1948. She worked as a teacher and a librarian (at State Library Queensland, Brisbane) before returning to Springsure to support her elderly parents. She died on 1 January 2022.

The Fryer Family of Springsure began with the marriage when Rosina Richards (16 Aug 1865-24 Aug 1949) and Charles George Fryer married on 19 December 1883. They had six sons and one daughter. The children were: Elizabeth Stuart Gilmour (nee Fryer) (21 Dec 1884-10 Jul 1984); William Thomas Fryer (20 Feb 1887-21 Feb 1946); Charles George Fryer (2 Jul 1889-10 Apr 1917); Henry Hardy Fryer (15 Mar 1892-17 Sep 1990); John Denis (11 Sep 1895-7 Feb 1923); Richard Alexander James (23 Oct 1899-17 Jun 1986) and Walter Ponsonby (18 Jan 1906-16 May 1980).

Elizabeth Stuart Fryer married James Stephen Gilmour. They had three children: Eunice Catherine Gilmour (11 Nov 1921-1 Jan 2022); Lex and John.
Henry Hardy Fryer married Irene Margaret Holmes on 21 November 1923.
Richard Alexander Fryer married Myrtle Ellen Rowlands (19 Apr 1913-?) on 11 November 1934.
Walter Ponsonby Fryer married Emma Amelia Simpkins on 9 October 1935.

Hanlon, William Egan, 1862-1941

William Egan Hanlon,with his parents Thomas and Annie Mary Hanlon (nee Winterburn), migrated to Queensland aboard the Fiery Star. He wrote for a newspaper, 'Piscator' (a local Southport newspaper?). He married Rosa Lilla Palmer on 10 October 1900. He died on 30 November 1941.

John ('Jack') Lindsay was born on 20 October 1900 in East Melbourne. Son of Victorian-born Norman Lindsay and his first wife Kathleen Agatha, née Parkinson. After his parents separated in 1909 his mother took him and his brothers Raymond and Philip to Brisbane. During this time he spent much time in the Elkington household. He earned scholarships to Brisbane Grammar School and University of Queensland (BA Hon, 1921). He was an autobiographer/memoirist, biographer, book publisher, communist, historian, literary critic and novelist. He died on 8 March 1990 in Cambridge, England.

Lindsay, Raymond, 1903-1960

Raymond Lindsay was born in 1903. Second child of Victorian-born Norman Lindsay and his first wife Kathleen Agatha, née Parkinson. After his parents separated in 1909 his mother took him and his brothers Jack and Philip to Brisbane. He was an artist, art critic and journalist. He died on 12 June 1960.

The practice of Edwin (Eddie) James Hayes (23/3/1918-4/10/1997) and Campbell (Cam) Royston Scott (4/5/1921-7/1/2007) began in Brisbane in 1946. Initially they traded as E.J. Hayes and C.R. Scott. They rapidly made their mark with early commissions and houses that attracted awards and publicity. In the late 1950's, in an effort to rid themselves of being stereotyped as the Brisbane House Designers, they actively sought non-residential commissions. Hayes, Scott and Henderson operated from 1965 to 1967. Hayes and Scott retired from practice in 1984.

Lowah, Thomas, 1914-

Thomas Lowah was born in 1914 in the Torres Strait Islands. He worked as a diver on pearling luggers which worked the waters of the Torres Strait and the Great Barrier Reef. Thomas joined the army in World War Two and was part of the Torres Strait Light Infantry Battalion. At the end of the war he went back to the luggers. He later moved to North Queensland, working a number of jobs. He retired to live in Cairns where he wrote his autobiography. He died in 1989.

Dr Cameron Bruhn is an Australian architect and academic. He was awarded a Bachelor of Architecture by The University of Queensland in 2003, and completed a PhD in architecture and design at RMIT University in 2017. From 2003 to 2018 he was Editor and then Editorial Director of Architecture Media before being appointed Head of School of Architecture at The University of Queensland. In April 2023 he left The University of Queensland to take up the position of Chief Executive Officer of the Australian Institute of Architects.
