The Wienholt family were a pioneering family in the Darling Downs and Fassifern areas. They owned numerous pastoral stations, including Jondaryan station. Much of this collection relates to Arnold Wienholt Jnr who was a pastoralist, Queensland Legislative Assembly member, House of Representatives member, big-game hunter in Africa, and scout in Africa during World War I.

Painter, illustrator, printmaker and sculptor, Wienholt was born at Leura in the Blue Mountains New South Wales. She is the daughter of Arnold Wienholt, a pastoralist of Washpool Farm near Kalbar, Queensland, and Enid Frances, née Sydney Jones. Wienholt studied at East Sydney Technical College in 1938-41 under William Dobell and Frank Medworth. In 1944 she moved to New York and studied at the Art Students League, the Brooklyn Museum Fine Art School and Atelier 17. She married the cabinetmaker and furniture designer Masato Takashige in America and they had one daughter. In 1968 the family moved to Kingston, Jamaica and Anne taught drawing at the Jamaican School of Art. She has had many exhibitions in Australia, Jamaica and the United States. Since 1970 she has lived and worked in California.
