William Richer Moon was born in Brisbane on 10 May 1878, to Thomas Moon and Susan Margaret Moon (nee Jones). He married Florence Emily Melville on 29 April 1908 and they had at least three children: Lillian Margaret Reeve (nee Moon) (1909-1994) , Marjorie Florence Stafford (nee Moon) (1912-1998) and Allen William Moon (1918-1998). William Richer Moon died on 13 June 1966.

Dr Virginia Thorley is a pioneer of the breastfeeding movement in Australia. She was the first breastfeeding counsellor in Queensland and in 1985 was in the first cohort in the world to certify IBCLC. In 2008 she was one of the first Fellows of the International Lactation Consultant Association (FILCA). Dr Thorley is an Honorary Research Fellow in the School of Historical and Philosophical Inquiry at the University of Queensland. -- excerpted from author's bio.
