Australian Peace Committee (1976- ). Also known as the Australian Peace Committee for Detente, Disarmament and Development.
Objectives: To prohibit the manufacture of all weapons of mass destruction; to stop the arms race; to outlaw the manufacture and stockpiling of nuclear weapons; to respect the rights of people to sovereignty and independence; to influence governments to divert money from arms to other purposes; to oppose foreign military bases in Australia.
